Volunteer

The success of Meals on Wheels centers around an extraordinary core of volunteers who contribute their time, compassion and concern for our recipients. Many of our volunteers make a commitment to deliver meals once a month.

Volunteers must be available on a weekday or weekdays between the hours of 10:45am and 1:00pm, have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of automobile insurance. Training is provided and every effort is made to accommodate each volunteer’s schedule. Routes range in time from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on the day and route scheduled.

Available routes include North Suffolk (Harborview), Downtown Suffolk, Chuckatuck, Nansemond Parkway, Holland, Whaleyville, Smithfield, rural Isle of Wight, and Windsor regions. Substitute drivers are also needed for those who are on vacation and occasional vacancies.

Groups, military, students, and corporate volunteers are welcome!

Please consider joining our team as we make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. We promise smiles, thank-yous, and tremendous satisfaction in knowing that you are providing a valuable service to those in need! Please fill out the application below and a staff member will reach out to you shortly.

*Court mandated community service hours are only available to volunteers who are not charged with a barrier crime and need ten (10) hours of community service or less. No exceptions apply.*
